The annual Becket Lecture is an educational event designed to attract, students, staff and members of the public being given by a distinguished historian on a topic related in some way to Archbishop Thomas Becket. The lecture is free to attend but booking is essential. There will be a wine reception beforehand from 5.30pm.
Michael Wood, our speaker in 2023, is Professor of Public History at the University of Manchester and is known as a brilliant educator and communicator. Although he has worked on a wide range of subjects, he is especially known for his research and outreach work on Anglo-Saxon England, as exemplified by this lecture.
