Bringing Emotion to Therapy: An Update on Emotion-Focused Therapy, Evidence and Recent Developments

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) is an integrative, evidence-based, neo-humanistic psychotherapy that draws primarily from person-centred and gestalt therapy traditions, as well as contemporary emotion theory. In this talk Robert provides an update on Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), divided into three parts: The first part includes a brief introduction to the approach, describing its evolution and basic principles and practices. After this, Robert takes up the research evidence supporting its effectiveness and change processes. Finally, he summarises recent developments in EFT, including the formulation of EFT as a transdiagnostic approach.
