Made This is a brand new lecture series hosted in Canterbury's creative hub, the Daphne Oram Building. Our guest speakers from the creative arts will share their journey and creative process. We will kick off our talks with two established illustrators Maddy Vian (left) and Jenny Davis (right) who have influenced a range of house hold brands with their eye catching and highly imaginative illustration styles.

This monthly event will take place in the Daphne Oram Gallery space, in the Daphne Oram Creative Arts Building, and is free to all.

Jenny Davis (she/her), is a freelance Illustrator and Graphic Designer with 9 years in the industry, based in Folkestone, Kent.

Her creative career began as an internship for a small fitness company, before moving on to fast-paced design agency, Oliver, where she gained experience across a diverse range of projects for a number of household brand names, from digital and social to large scale print and animated content.

Becoming a freelance Illustrator has allowed her to fully focus on and expand her illustrative range. She now specialises in developing bespoke illustration styles and guidelines for brands, as well as creating assets which align with existing guidelines for use across digital and print.

Maddy Vian is a passionate illustrator and art director living and working in Margate. After her foundation course at UCA Canterbury, she graduated from Kingston School of Art in London with an Illustration Animation BA(Hons) degree and continued to pursue freelance illustration working on a wide range of projects - from music video animation to published children's books.

Maddy's work often includes themes surrounding nostalgia and warm characters, mixing both digital work with handmade textures to create playful imagery using every colour under the sun. She loves sharing her joyful work through social media and has found a supportive network of creatives online.
