Terry Tsang, Anna Sanders, Sami Bal

Speakers from Industrial Light & Magic will take us through their career journeys, and how their paths led them to work within a TV division. They have a variety of roles at ILM, that will provide you with a flavour of what a role within TV may consist of.

Terry Tsang is a Lead Paint and Roto Artist for ILM’s TV division. He began his career in the industry as a runner at Envy Post in 2007. After five years working in a machine room, he began working as a compositor for commercials and other short form pieces. In 2015 he got his first taste of episodic work and enjoyed the fast-paced nature of it all. After a brief stint in film, Terry joined the team at DNEGTV in 2016 and within a year became the department’s roto paint supervisor. His credits include 'Altered Carbon', 'Chernobyl', 'Black Mirror', 'Hanna' and 'Doctor Who'.

Anna Sanders - Junior Animator. Anna graduated from Bournemouth University, then went on to further study with Animation Mentor and Aardman Academy. She worked at DNEG and ILM on shows such as 'Venom' and 'The Mandalorian'. Whilst working in film and TV she has animated some awesome creatures and characters; some big, some small, some cute, some ugly and some a bit of both!

Sami Bal - Production Assistant. Sami graduated in 2015 with a BA in Film & Television Production from Brunel University. He began working as Junior Scanning Technician at Pinewood Studios on a number of films, the first being 'The Last Jedi'. Since then he has worked on a variety of projects and was given the chance to fully build and set up a 3D studio department. After 5 years working in on-set production he started at ILM TV and has been here for nearly 2 years. Credits include: 'Rogue One', 'The Last Jedi', 'Artemis Fowl', 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'Battlefront 2' and 'Hitman'.

The ticketing for Canterbury Anifest this year is Pay What You Can; please select the ticket price that you feel comfortable paying for each event. Alternatively, you can buy the Festival Pass which will allow you access to all the talks for a total of £10.

This is an online event. Advance booking is required to receive full access details in advance of the events. One ticket is required per device, not per person viewing, so two people watching on one screen only require one ticket. This event differs from the other Anifest events in that it is hosted by ILM, and will be delivered on Zoom, and so a recording will not be available to view after the talk has taken place.
