The emergence of psychological astrology in the 20th century was a conscious attempt to incorporate the new depth psychology, particularly Jung’s model of the psyche, in the hope of making astrology more relevant to the contemporary world. But what is psyche and can an astrological birth chart really show a map of it? And can we speak of a psychological strand in astrology prior to the 20th century? This lecture will explore the ‘psychologisation’ of astrology, in light of changing definitions of the psyche from ancient to contemporary times.

This lecture is suitable for those who are familiar with astrology, and equally for those who are not.
