The Assembly Project

We are delighted to welcome members of the prestigious Assembly Project ensemble to Canterbury. This recital honours the memory of the late Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, who had a long association with this university. Featuring several of his solo and chamber works, including A Kestrel paced around the Sun and Lullaby, the programme also includes the UK mainland premieres of the prize-winning works from the Composers’ Competition run by the St Magnus International Festival, Orkney in collaboration with Canterbury Christ Church. Introductions will be offered by colleague and friend of ‘Max’, Alasdair Nicolson, director of the St Magnus Festival.

The concert is followed, at 2.30pm, by a free two-hour public workshop in which our composers’ compositions will be rehearsed and critiqued by the Assembly Project players.
