Samantha Moore - Exploring Animated Documentary

Animator and researcher Samantha Moore recently worked with microbiologist Dr Serge Mostowy on the film Loop, which tells the story of how each scientist working in Serge’s lab sees scientific research differently, and which uses animation to represent these individual views.

This talk offers an overview of the project, and Moore will discuss more broadly the representational potential of the animated documentary form. This talk will explore some of the questions that such work raises about the way in which animation can document, inform and transform data.

The talk will feature two screenings of Moore's animated documentary work: Loop and Eyeful of Sound.
