Tutor: Dave Macey | Canterbury campus | £54

Have you ever wondered why beauty is so important and why we value its qualities so highly? Are you curious as to why censorship exists? Do you want to know why and how pictures and films can move people in such profound ways?
Art theory is an exciting and extremely relevant subject in today’s image soaked world. Over a five-week period there will be an exploration of the theories surrounding art, such as beauty, imitation and expression. There will also be a discussion about the concept of Plato’s Cave and an introduction to the theory of semiotics, the study of signs.
